Legion Tactical Squad

The Horus Heresy

Once the very model of a line formation, drilled to flawless execution, their disciplined precision later edged with Slaaneshi cruelty.

The Legion Tactical Squad of the Emperor's Children was, in the Great Crusade's proud years, held up as the very model of what a line formation should be, drilled to a standard of flawless execution that other Legions studied and envied. Every manoeuvre was performed with parade-ground precision, every volley disciplined, every advance a demonstration of the perfection the III Legion prized above all else.

That relentless standard made them formidable, but it also carried the seed of the Legion's undoing, for warriors taught that only perfection would suffice found ordinary excellence increasingly hollow. As the Emperor's Children fell to Slaanesh, even their rank and file were touched by the craving for sensation, and their disciplined precision acquired an edge of cruelty. During the Heresy these once-exemplary line legionaries fought with undiminished skill in the service of a corrupted cause, their flawless technique now bent toward slaughter for its own sake rather than the Imperial dream they had once embodied so perfectly.
