Even in so common an engine as the Legion Predator, the Emperor's Children sought to prove their superiority, drilling their tank crews until each squadron moved and fired with the flawless uniformity of a single organism. Mounting autocannon or the twin lascannons of the Annihilator, the III Legion's Predators advanced in immaculate formation, their fire falling precisely where doctrine demanded and never a shell astray. Finished in lustrous purple and gold and marked with the palatine aquila, these tanks reflected the Legion's conviction that beauty and lethality were one and the same. Where other Legions were content that a tank simply killed, the Emperor's Children required that it kill perfectly, in good order, and with a certain terrible elegance. In the massed armoured actions of the Heresy, their Predator lines were as disciplined a spectacle as any Palatine blade drawn in salute.
