To the III Legion, war was a performance to be executed without a single wasted motion, and the Legion Storm Eagle Gunship was the instrument of their most perfect entrance. Larger and prouder than lesser transports, the Storm Eagle bore a full assault squad and the fury of missiles and heavy weapons to the exact point where the Emperor's Children wished the battle decided. Its pilots, drawn from warriors who deemed a clumsy approach a form of dishonour, threaded flak and fighter-screen to touch down amid the foe at the flawless instant, ramps crashing wide as Palatine blades spilled forth. Finished in gleaming purple and gold and adorned with the palatine aquila, each gunship was as much a statement of aesthetic supremacy as a machine of war. For the perfectionists of Fulgrim's III Legion, the strike had to be beautiful, and it had to be total.
