Skeleton Horsemen

The deathless light horse of Nehekhara, riding skeletal steeds to harry the enemy's flanks with lance and bow as they did in the desert wars of old.

Skeleton Horsemen are the risen cavalry of the ancient legions, dead riders on the bones of long-dead steeds, wheeling across the sands with the same easy horsemanship they possessed in life. In the age of Nehekhara the light horse were the eyes and the whips of the god-kings' armies, ranging wide to scout, to harass, and to run down a broken foe, and death has not changed their office. Armed with lance, blade, and short bow, they sweep along the flanks of the enemy line, loosing as they ride and closing to spear the isolated before drifting out of reach once more. Their skeletal mounts never tire, never panic, and never balk at charging home, for there is no living instinct left in them to overcome. Guided by the will of the Tomb King they serve, the horsemen manoeuvre with a cold precision no living cavalry can sustain across a long battle. They are a memory of the desert wars, riding still, a thousand years after the last of them first fell.
