The Visionary

Ramhotep the Visionary

The greatest of the necrotects, a master builder whose obsessive genius shapes the colossal statues and war-constructs that march at the heart of the risen legions.

Ramhotep the Visionary belongs to the necrotects, the master-builders of the Tomb Kings, the architects and sculptors who raised the pyramids and mortuary temples in life and who, in undeath, craft and awaken the great stone constructs that tower over the risen legions. Even among that proud and difficult brotherhood Ramhotep is singular, a genius so consumed by his vision of the perfect monument that death itself proved only a minor interruption to the work.

He labours still, driving crews of skeletal slaves and swarms of tomb-scarabs to carve and haul and raise, cursing imperfection with a craftsman's fury and tolerating no flaw in the sacred geometry of his creations. On the battlefield his gift becomes terrible, for it is Ramhotep who mends the great war-constructs when they are broken and goads them back into the fight, and his mere presence lends the towering statues of stone and bronze a fluid, deadly animation they would not otherwise possess. He cares nothing for kings, conquests, or the ancient grudges of the dead. He cares that the work continues, and that it be flawless, and he will see whole armies ground to dust before he suffers a single crooked line.
