Saphery is the kingdom of magic, a land of enchanted meadows and drifting glamours where the winds of sorcery blow so strong that the very streams are said to whisper and the flowers open in colours found nowhere else. At its heart rises the White Tower of Hoeth, a spire of pale stone lifted like a needle of moonlight above the fields, and within it dwell the Loremasters — the deepest scholars of the asur, keepers of vortex-lore, the old wards, and an age's hoarded arcane theory. It was in Saphery that the elves first learned to master the terrible gift that had nearly destroyed them, and the kingdom has guarded that mastery jealously ever since.
Such knowledge draws enemies as honey draws flies, and so the Tower is warded in steel no less than in spell. Upon its winding stairways stand the Swordmasters of Hoeth, warrior-ascetics whose greatblades move swifter than the eye can follow, sworn to guard the Loremasters and their secrets to the last. Saphery makes little noise in the councils of Ulthuan; it raises no great fleets and boasts no proud chivalry. Its power is the quiet kind — a stillness that hangs over the meadows like the held breath before a storm breaks — and the enemies of the asur have learned, always too late, just how much that quiet was holding back.
High Elf Realms
Order of battle
The Saphery field the units of the High Elf Realms — a detachment from the roster:
Kindred formations
Other High Elf Realms formations
CaledorThe kingdom of the dragon princes, raised along the volcanic spine of southern Ulthuan where the great drakes sleep beneath fire-mountains. Its knights ride to war in armour forged in dragonflame, heirs of the Dragontamer who wove the Great Vortex, and their pride is the oldest and hottest in Ulthuan. Fewer dragons wake with each passing century, and no prince of Caledor will say aloud what that silence means.
ChraceThe wild northern march of Ulthuan, a kingdom of hunters and axemen whose high passes stand between the heartlands and the raiders out of Naggaroth. Chracians are the least courtly of the asur and the first to bleed for them; since hunters of Chrace saved the second Phoenix King from assassins, the lion-cloaked axemen of this land have stood closest to every throne.
EataineThe richest of the ten kingdoms and the heart of asur sea-power, whose capital Lothern is the greatest harbour in the world. Through the Emerald Gate pass the fleets that police ten thousand miles of ocean, and in Lothern's marble court sits the Phoenix King himself. Eataine is where Ulthuan's golden age still burns brightest — and where its merchant princes insist it is not fading at all.
