Hammerhal is the mightiest of all the free Cities of Sigmar, a single colossal metropolis that impossibly spans two realms at once. Built astride a great realmgate, one half of the city, Hammerhal Aqsha, rises amid the fires of Aqshy, while the other, Hammerhal Ghyra, flourishes in the green wilds of Ghyran, the two joined through the shimmering Stormrift Realmgate at its core.

Founded during the reconquest as the flagship of Sigmar's returning civilisation, Hammerhal was raised to be a statement as much as a stronghold: proof that the God-King's peoples could not merely raid the reclaimed realms but truly live in them again. It swiftly grew into the largest of the free cities, a teeming hub of trade, faith, industry, and war.

Its dual nature makes Hammerhal extraordinary and precarious alike. Goods, armies, and pilgrims pass between fire and life in a single stride, and the wealth of two realms flows through its markets, yet an enemy who breaches one half threatens both, and the city must forever guard gates that open onto danger from two directions at once. The Aqsha half is a place of roaring foundries, war-shrines, and martial fervour, while the Ghyra half is a greener realm of gardens, apothecaries, and quieter faith, each shaped by the realm it inhabits yet bound inseparably to the other by the gate at their shared heart.

Ruled by an intricate web of guilds, generals, and priesthoods, Hammerhal serves as the staging-ground for countless crusades into the wilds beyond its walls. It stands as the truest emblem of Order's ambition in the age, a bridge-city binding realm to realm, and a beacon proclaiming that Sigmar's people have come not to visit the Mortal Realms, but to reclaim them for good.
