Azyrheim, the Eternal City, is the greatest and most storied sanctuary in all the Mortal Realms, a vast metropolis crowning the celestial realm of Azyr. Its towers climb toward the constellations and its streets teem with the descendants of a hundred peoples who fled here when their own realms fell to Chaos, making it a single city that holds the memory of countless lost worlds.
When Sigmar sealed the heavens against the Age of Chaos, Azyrheim swelled from a capital into a refuge without equal. Behind its storm-warded walls gathered kings without kingdoms, guilds without cities, and faiths without temples, all crowded together beneath the God-King's protection. Over the long centuries of exile it grew into a labyrinth of districts, each preserving the customs of a realm that no longer existed.
It was from Azyrheim and the wider heavens that Sigmar launched his reconquest, and the city remains the beating heart of Order's war effort. The Stormcast Eternals are forged and mustered in its precincts, and from its gates march the pioneer-armies that would raise the free Cities of Sigmar across the reclaimed realms. Within its walls throng cults and colleges beyond counting, Freeguild regiments drilling in its plazas, duardin and aelf enclaves keeping their own ancient ways, and countless ordinary folk who have never known any home but the Eternal City, so that Azyrheim is at once a fortress, a temple, a marketplace, and the last living museum of a hundred murdered civilisations.
Yet even paradise has its shadows. Beneath the Eternal City's gleaming spires run undercities of the desperate and the forgotten, and its politics are a maze of ambitious dynasties, scheming priesthoods, and secretive orders. For all its imperfections, Azyrheim endures as the truest symbol of hope in the age, proof that light can outlast even the longest night.
