The Treelord Ancient is among the oldest and mightiest of the tree-spirits, a towering being of living wood whose memories stretch back to the birth of the forests. Where younger Treelords are wrathful and swift, the Ancients are patient and deep-thinking, revered by the Sylvaneth as elders and lords of the wargroves. Rooted in the magic of Ghyran, a Treelord Ancient can command the surrounding woodland to obey its will, sending roots bursting from the soil to crush and entangle, or hurling severed boughs like siege-engines. Its very presence quickens the growth of the forest, and it may reach through the hidden network of the wyldwoods to appear where the enemy least expects. In battle it strikes with a colossal sweeping blow alongside strangler-vines and impaling talons, yet it is as much sage as warrior, guiding the tactics of an entire host. To fell one is to silence a voice that remembered the world when it was young, a loss the Sylvaneth answer with cold and terrible vengeance.
