The Spiterider Lancers are the fleet cavalry of the Sylvaneth, spite-revenants mounted upon Flitterfuries, enormous dragonfly-like spites whose iridescent wings blur as they dart across the battlefield. Armed with long lances tipped in the venom of the deep forest, the Lancers strike with sudden, darting violence, impaling a foe upon the charge before wheeling away on shimmering wings faster than any enemy can retaliate. Their mounts are drawn from the swarms of lesser spites that infest the wyldwoods, bred to a monstrous size by the magic of Ghyran and every bit as malevolent as their riders. In battle the Spiteriders harry the enemy's flanks and run down fleeing survivors, their poisoned lances ensuring that even a glancing wound may prove fatal. They embody the swift, merciless aspect of the forest's wrath, here and gone before the foe can bring a weapon to bear. Against them there is no outrunning the woodland's vengeance, for it comes on shimmering wings and leaves only the dead behind.
