Gossamid Archers

Wind-borne skirmishers lifted on zephyrspite wings, loosing living arrows from above the canopy where no despoiler thinks to look.

Gossamid Archers are among the youngest growths of the glades — light-limbed spirits joined in symbiosis with zephyrspites, whose gauzy wings bear them into the high airs above the canopy. From that vantage they serve as scouts, heralds, and executioners in one: the first sign of a wargrove's coming is often a shadow flickering across the sun, followed by arrows falling with unfair precision.

Their arrows are half alive, humming with captive spites that burst on impact to cling, sting, and burrow. Gossamid Archers use them the way the forest uses wasps — to make a lesson of trespass. They harry, scatter, and vanish downwind, bleeding an enemy's nerve long before the dryads' keening begins, and many a warband has broken beneath them without ever catching one.
