The Warp-Grinder Weapon Team carries one of Clan Skryre's most ingenious and unpredictable devices, a warpstone-powered drill that shrieks through solid rock, masonry and armour with equal, appalling ease. Operated by a pair of goggle-eyed engineers of the Skaven, the warp-grinder bores hidden tunnels through the earth, allowing entire assault-packs to erupt from beneath the enemy's feet in the very heart of their formation, far from where any sane defender expected an attack. Turned upon foes directly, the spinning drill-head liquefies flesh and grinds through the thickest plate, and a single sweep can gut a knight or open a breach in a fortress wall. Like all Skryre engineering the device is gloriously dangerous to its own crew, prone to jamming, overheating or detonating in a spray of warp-energy that leaves nothing to bury. Yet the tactical value of striking from below is too great to ignore, and Skryre warlords send warp-grinder teams tunnelling ahead of every assault, trusting terror and surprise to do the rest.
