The Mortisan Soulmason presides over the second great art of the Ossiarch craft: the working of souls. Enthroned upon a Mortek chair of living bone that bears him above the battle, he reaches out with his mind to the spirits of the dying, plucking them free as they flee their broken bodies and binding that raw essence to his purpose. From this stolen will he draws power to hurl bolts of ossific energy, to sharpen the deadly focus of the constructs near him, and to feed the endless hunger of the soul-forges. The Soulmasons are cold theoreticians, regarding every death upon the field as a transaction — a soul lost by one side and gained by the other. Among the Ossiarch Bonereapers their word carries the weight of doctrine, for they decide which spirits are worthy of remaking and which are merely fuel. Where a Soulmason rides, the dead of both armies serve Nagash before the day is done.
