Mage of Hysh

Teclis

The god-mage who made the Lumineth and mourns what they did with his gift — creator, teacher and last resort of Hysh, borne to war beside Celennar, the spirit of the realm's greater moon.

Teclis remembers a world that no longer exists, and the memory governs everything he has built since. When the world-that-was died, the souls of aelfkind — their gods included — went down the throat of Slaanesh. Teclis emerged from that darkness remade: the frail, brilliant twin of radiant Tyrion, now a god of illumination in his own right. With the other risen aelf deities he hunted the Dark Prince, chained it in the hidden subrealm of Uhl-Gysh between Light and Shadow, and began drawing the stolen souls of his people out of its body like splinters from a wound.

What followed was the labour of a god who believes that improvement is love. His first attempt at remaking the rescued souls produced the Idoneth Deepkin, who emerged soul-starved and fled his light for the ocean deeps — a failure he could not bring himself to unmake. His second attempt he perfected. The Lumineth, seeded across the Ten Paradises of Hysh with reason and magic braided into their nature, surpassed every hope he held for them; then came the hubris, the Ocari Dara, the Spirefall, and Teclis learned that perfection without humility is only a taller place to fall from.

It was Celennar, aelemental spirit of Hysh's greater moon, that drew the archmage back from despair and taught him what brilliance alone could not — how to ask the land itself for help. God and moon-spirit have been inseparable since, sharing sight, thought and a dry celestial patience; Celennar is the only being Teclis has ever called teacher. In war he does not duel so much as edit, unweaving plagues, extinguishing rituals and, most famously, shattering the Undying King's grandest necromantic working with the god of death still attached to it. He commits to battle rarely, and this is a mercy: when the Mage of Hysh takes the field in earnest, the outcome is less a question than a formality.
