The adepts interred within these war-engines were often psykers of no small gift, and their aetheric sight sharpened the Deredeo's already formidable targeting to an uncanny degree, guiding autocannon and missile fire with an intuition no machine-spirit could match. The XV Legion, ever fewer in number than its rivals, prized any weapon that let a single warrior do the work of many, and a Deredeo directed by a foresighted mind could dominate an approach against overwhelming odds. During the burning of Prospero, these ancients stood among the last defenders of Tizca, their guns thundering from the pyramid-steps as the Space Wolves poured into the city. That so gifted a mind could be preserved and set to war was itself a quiet triumph of the Legion's art, and its loss amid the flames a keener grief.
