The Legion Storm Eagle Gunship carried the Eighth Legion's atrocity down from the void, a heavy assault flyer painted the blue-black of a moonless night and crewed to arrive without warning. It came down over a slumbering city or a fortified line and opened its holds, spilling terror squads and raptors into the streets before the defenders' alarms had finished sounding. The Night Lords flew them dark and low, killing their running lights and riding the storm so that the first sign of their coming was the roar of engines directly overhead. To be woken by that sound was to know the terror had already begun. Beyond ferrying warriors, the gunships strafed and shattered whatever resistance the Legion's darker arts had failed to break. In the Heresy the Storm Eagles of the Night Haunter's sons brought the Eighth's particular horror to a hundred worlds that had thought their walls enough.
