Sevatar, called the Prince of Crows, was First Captain of the Eighth Legion and commander of its dread Atramentar, and by common reckoning the finest killer the Night Lords ever produced. He was more than a blade, however; where much of the Legion had surrendered wholly to cruelty, Sevatar retained a savage wit and a clear, cold intelligence, and he alone among the Eighth could speak plainly to Konrad Curze and expect to live.
He carried a fragment of the primarch's own curse, a touch of the witch-sight that let him glimpse what was to come, and it lent his fatalism a sharper edge. Sevatar fought the Heresy with open eyes, aware that his Legion was damned and half-contemptuous of the rebellion he served, yet bound to his primarch and his brothers by a loyalty he could not quite abandon.
Deadly, insolent, and clever beyond the measure of his kind, Sevatar became the closest thing the Eighth had to a soul, a warrior who saw exactly what the Night Lords were and chose, with grim humour and no illusions, to be their prince regardless.
