The Nightmare Raptors were the most feared of the Eighth Legion's assault troops, veteran killers who had embraced the predatory heart of the Night Lords' way of war more fully than any of their kin. Descending from the darkness on shrieking jump packs, they fell upon the enemy where its nerve was already fraying, turning a wavering line into a rout with talon and blade.
Where ordinary assault squads sought to win ground, the Nightmare Raptors sought to win terror, singling out officers and champions and butchering them where their soldiers could see. They wore the aspect of daemons and carrion-birds, and cultivated the shriek of their descent into a weapon as sharp as any blade. In the Heresy these veterans led the Legion's most vicious decapitation strikes, hunting the leaders of loyalist forces through the ruin of besieged worlds.
