Where the lasrifle sections held the line, the Veletaris broke the enemy's, storming strongpoints and boarding hostile vessels with a ferocity leavened by decades of discipline. They carried a cohort's most prized wargear, the volkite charger foremost among it, a searing energy weapon that boiled ranks of foes to ash and left the survivors to flee a wall of light. Clad in heavier plate than their line comrades and drilled in the brutal arts of the void assault, a single section could hold a breach against odds that would overwhelm a company of ordinary troops. To be raised to the Veletaris was the highest honour a common Auxilia soldier could earn, and those who bore its markings were the living memory of a cohort's every hard-won victory.
