The Legion Heavy Support Squad was the Death Guard's grim way of war distilled into a body of foot soldiers, stoic legionaries who shouldered heavy weapons and planted themselves upon the field like rooted stone. Armed with heavy bolters, missile launchers, lascannon, or the volkite and plasma weapons the Legion could muster, they laid down a punishing, disciplined barrage and simply refused to be moved from it. The sons of Barbarus were perhaps the most physically resilient of all the Legions, their flesh hardened against toxin and hardship, and their heavy weapons squads embodied that endurance, weathering fire that would break other warriors and answering it with slow, remorseless volleys. Where the Death Guard set such a squad, an enemy learned that ground would not be yielded and every assault would be met with an unflinching wall of fire. In a Legion built for attrition, these implacable gunners were the immovable core around which the grinding advance was anchored.
