Grave Warden Terminators

The Horus Heresy

Veteran Terminators whose armor has fused with the plague corrupting the flesh beneath, the Grave Wardens anchor the Legion's most punishing assaults.

Grave Wardens earned their name from a grim irony that the Death Guard's legionaries have come to regard almost as a badge of honor: Terminator plate that no longer functions merely as armor but has become fused, plate to flesh to disease, into something closer to a mobile crypt for a body that refuses outright to die. Committed to the same slow rot consuming the rest of the Legion, these veterans have simply stopped fighting the process and instead weaponized it, their sealed suits becoming pressurized reservoirs of contagion that burst outward with every strike.

Deployed to break the hardest points of an enemy line, Grave Warden Terminators advance with a lumbering inevitability that belies their lethality in close combat, absorbing damage that would annihilate lesser troops while spreading disease to anything unfortunate enough to survive contact with them. Their presence on a battlefield is as much psychological warfare as physical threat, since few enemies can maintain discipline once they realize the warriors advancing on them cannot be stopped through wounds alone.
