The armoured vehicles of the Adeptus Custodes are as far beyond the common war-machines of the Imperium as the Custodians themselves are beyond mortal soldiery, and the Caladius is chief among them. Suspended upon anti-gravitic fields rather than tracks, it moves with an eerie, gliding grace, skimming over obstacles and broken ground at speeds no tank could hope to match. Its wraithbone-smooth hull is a masterwork of archeotech, proof against firepower that would gut a lesser vehicle.
The Caladius exists to bring heavy firepower to the battlefield with the speed the Custodes demand. In its most common configuration it mounts the twin arachnus heavy blaze cannon, a paired energy weapon that carves apart armour and monstrous foes alike, while other patterns bear the iliastus accelerator cannon, a rapid-firing gun that scythes down massed infantry with a storm of shells. Either way, few targets can long endure its attention.
Deployed as the fire-support of a Custodian force, the Caladius ranges ahead of the golden phalanx, engaging the enemy's heaviest assets and clearing the path for the warriors who follow. Its speed lets it seize firing positions the foe cannot anticipate, and its resilience lets it hold them under a weight of fire that would destroy any ordinary tank. It is the Emperor's wrath given wheels of light.
