Kratos Heavy Tank

The Horus Heresy

The Kratos Heavy Tank was a formidable main battle tank fielded by the Legiones Astartes during the Horus Heresy, bridging the gap between the ubiquitous Predator and the towering super-heavies of the era. Rediscovered from Standard Template Construct data during the Great Crusade, it combined heavy frontal armour with a devastating primary weapon mounted in a fully rotating turret, making it capable of engaging both massed infantry and enemy armour with equal ferocity.

Produced in limited numbers due to the demands its construction placed upon Legion forge resources, the Kratos was prized by commanders who could secure it. Its hull sponsons and coaxial mountings allowed a single vehicle to lay down withering interlocking fields of fire. Legions such as the Iron Warriors, masters of grinding siege warfare, and the disciplined lines of the Ultramarines counted the Kratos among their most valued armoured assets.

The pattern was maintained and refined with the assistance of the Mechanicum, whose adepts alone possessed the deep knowledge required to sustain its complex machine spirit. As the Heresy consumed the Imperium, surviving Kratos tanks became symbols of a fading age of technological confidence.
