The Cerberus Heavy Tank Destroyer was a super-heavy armoured vehicle built upon the same colossal chassis as the Spartow-class hulls of the Legiones Astartes, dedicated wholly to the annihilation of enemy war engines. Its defining feature was a fixed forward-facing neutron laser projector, a weapon of terrifying power capable of collapsing the void shields and armour of even the mightiest opposing titans and super-heavy tanks.
Rare and difficult to produce, the Cerberus was a specialist asset deployed when a Legion anticipated facing heavy enemy armour or fortifications. Its lack of a rotating turret demanded careful positioning, but a single well-sited Cerberus could dominate an entire sector of the battlefield, its neutron beam scything through targets that lesser weapons could not touch.
The pattern's construction and the maintenance of its dangerous energy weapon required close cooperation with the Mechanicum. Siege-focused Legions such as the Iron Warriors valued the Cerberus for its ability to shatter armoured spearheads and reduce enemy strongpoints to slag.
