The Vigilators were the swords of the Sisterhood, the cadres trained to close the final distance and end the witch with cold steel. Where a psyker's power failed in the null-field, a Vigilator was already upon him, her two-handed executioner greatblade rising and falling in a single practised stroke. They were hunters as much as warriors, schooled to run down fleeing sorcerers through ruin and shadow and to strike before a mind could gather itself for one last desperate working.
A Vigilator cadre fought in near-total silence, its members reading one another through the thoughtmark cant, tightening a noose of blank souls around their quarry until no escape remained. Against the traitor Legions' corrupted Librarians and the daemon-callers of the Ruinous Powers, the Vigilators were the Imperium's surest answer, for no ward and no summoning availed against a blade wielded by a woman the warp could not touch. In the Silent War of the Heresy they hunted the worst of the sorcerers to ground, and where a Vigilator's greatblade fell, the enemy's magic died with him. No quarry was reckoned too dangerous and no pursuit too long, for the Vigilators had been forged for precisely this hunt, and they did not tire until the head was taken.
