The Prosecutors

The Horus Heresy

The ranged core of the Sisterhood, the Prosecutors form disciplined firing lines of bolter-armed Null-Maidens who cut down the witch and his servants at range.

Contents

The Prosecutors were the massed firing lines of the Sisterhood, the cadres who met the enemy at range and broke him before the greatblades ever closed. Armoured in black and bearing bolters they wielded with a marksman's discipline, they laid down disciplined volleys that scythed through cultist, thrall and sorcerer alike, their null-souls robbing any witch of the power to turn the shots aside. Where the Vigilators were the executioner's stroke and the Witchseekers the cleansing pyre, the Prosecutors were the patient wall of fire that held the line and thinned the foe.

A Prosecutor cadre fought with the same silent cohesion as the rest of the Sisterhood, its fire shifting and concentrating at a gesture, its discipline never breaking even against horrors that would rout ordinary soldiery. Their blank presence steadied the battlefield, for daemons faltered and sorceries failed within reach of their guns. Through the Great Crusade and the Silent War that followed, the Prosecutors formed the dependable heart of every Sisterhood deployment, the anvil against which the witch was broken. Steady and unhurried, they gave the order its firm foundation, the disciplined line from which every hunt was launched and to which the swifter cadres could always fall back.
