Warplock Jezzails are Clan Skryre's snipers, two-Skaven teams crewing enormous long-barrelled guns that fire bullets of solid warpstone. Far too heavy for one ratman to wield, each jezzail is braced upon a pavise carried by a second crewman, who cowers behind it while his partner takes aim. What the weapon lacks in reliability it makes up in menace: a warpstone round punches clean through shield, plate, and the several bodies standing behind, and can fell a knight or a monster from a range no Skaven has any right to command.
The catch, as ever with Skryre, is the ammunition. Warpstone bullets are as likely to detonate in the breech as in the target, and jezzail crews suffer a steady attrition of misfires, blown-off hands, and slow warp-poisoning. Those who survive long enough grow twitchy and cancerous, but wonderfully accurate. Skaven warlords perch them on high ground to pick off enemy champions, and count the occasional self-inflicted casualty a bargain.
