Clanrats are the backbone of every Skaven army, the common soldiery of the warlord clans, driven and expended in numbers that beggar belief. Each is a head shorter than a man and armed with little more than a rusted blade, a crude spear, and a shield of scavenged scrap, but they come in such teeming multitudes that the quality of any single ratman scarcely matters. A Skaven general measures his strength not in warriors but in the sheer weight of bodies he can pour into a breach.
Clanrats fight best in a dense, jostling block, drawing courage from the press of their kin and from the whips and blades of the leaders behind them, who cut down any that flee. Left to themselves they are twitchy, treacherous, and quick to break, but held in a mass and pointed at the foe they can drown almost anything beneath a screeching tide of fur, iron, and desperation.
