The Questing Knights are Bretonnian nobles who have taken the Questing Vow, forsaking their lands, their titles, and every earthly comfort to wander the world in search of the Grail and the blessing of the Lady of the Lake. Until they find it — or die in the trying — they may not return home, sleep beneath a roof, or refuse a worthy challenge. Hardened by years of privation and endless combat, they are grimmer and more dangerous than the Knights of the Realm they once rode beside, and they scorn the lance in favour of great two-handed blades that cleave men and monsters from crown to saddle. A Questing Knight fights with the desperate zeal of one who believes his very soul hangs on the outcome, charging the mightiest foes on the field in the hope that such deeds will prove him worthy at last. Most die still searching. The rare few who drink from the Grail rise reborn as Grail Knights — but that glory is bought with a lifetime of holy exile.
