Bretonnia

The Knights of the Realm

The Knights of the Realm form the backbone of the martial aristocracy of Bretonnia, the sworn and landed nobles who hold fief and title in service to their dukes and their king. Each has completed his Errantry and proven himself in battle, earning the right to a castle, lands, and the peasants who toil upon them. In return, he swears to protect the realm and uphold the code of chivalry.

Mounted upon powerful warhorses and clad in gleaming plate, the Knights of the Realm are among the most feared heavy cavalry in the Old World. Their thundering lance charges have broken orc hordes, undead legions, and the ranks of Chaos alike. To a Bretonnian knight, honour and prowess in war are worth more than gold, and death upon the field is preferable to the shame of retreat.

A Knight of the Realm who lives long and fights well may aspire to become a Knight of the Grail, should he prove worthy of the Lady's blessing. Until then, he governs his lands, trains for war, and dreams of glory beneath fluttering pennants.
