Blessed Weapon

Thunderaxe

A great crackling poleaxe wielded by the towering Stormcast Decimators, the thunderaxe reaps massed foes in wide, lightning-wreathed arcs like corn before the storm.

Some threats cannot be met with a single blade or hammer; they must be reaped like a harvest. For this grim work the Stormcast Eternals field their Decimators, and in their gauntleted hands rests the Thunderaxe, a great crackling poleaxe forged to cut down massed foes in wide, sweeping arcs.

The thunderaxe is a weapon of terrible reach and heft, its broad head wreathed in the caged lightning of Azyr. A single Decimator can sweep his weapon through a press of ravening marauders and leave a swathe of the slain in its wake, the storm-charge leaping from body to body as the blade passes. Where the enemy comes on in a howling tide, a warband of Chaos berserkers, a swarm of beasts, a horde of the mindless dead, the thunderaxe answers their numbers with a butcher's arithmetic, trading one sweep for a dozen fallen.

Wielding such a weapon demands a warrior remade for the task. Only through the ordeal of the Reforging does a Stormcast gain the size, strength, and iron discipline to swing a thunderaxe amid the chaos of the front line without faltering. Decimators are stationed where the fighting is thickest and the odds are worst, their axes rising and falling with tireless, merciless rhythm. To the enemies of Sigmar, the flash of a thunderaxe against the storm-black sky is the sign that their advance is about to be scythed away.
