Reliquary Mace

Starsoul Mace

A sigmarite maul crowned with a caged fragment of a dying star, unleashing a silent detonation of celestial light that unmakes the foe.

Among the holiest wargear carried into battle by the Stormcast Eternals, the Starsoul Mace is a weapon of terrible and beautiful finality. Its haft is wrought of blessed sigmarite, but its head is a reliquary cage, and within that cage burns a splinter torn from a star that guttered out in the deeps of Azyr. Sigmar himself is said to have gathered these dying embers, so that even the death of a heavenly body might be turned into a weapon against the servants of Chaos.

When a Paladin lifts the mace high and speaks the word of release, the cage flares white and the trapped star-soul spends itself in a single soundless detonation. There is no thunderclap, no roar of flame, only a wash of pure celestial radiance that annihilates whatever stands before it. Daemons are undone utterly, their essence scoured back to the aether, and even the hulking champions of the Dark Gods are simply gone, leaving nothing but the after-image of light burned upon the eye.

Such power is not spent lightly. Each detonation costs the mace something of its captured star, and the bearers of these weapons are counselled to hold their strength for the moment of greatest need. To watch a rank of Paladins unleash their maces together is to see a battlefield bleached to whiteness, a benediction and a doom delivered in the same silent instant.
