The Gorequeen

Valkia the Bloody

Khorne's winged herald of slaughter — a mortal warrior-queen remade in daemon-flesh who soars above the Blood God's wars, choosing the worthy slain.

The sagas of a hundred savage peoples remember Valkia: the shield-queen who ruled by right of single combat, who dedicated every duel to the Blood God, and who filled her halls with the heads of those who mistook a queen for a soft target. When death finally claimed her, Khorne refused to accept the delivery. He remade her instead — skin the colour of an opened vein, great leathern wings, the daemon-spear Slaupnir in her fist — and set her aloft over his eternal wars as herald, consort, and judge of the slain.

Where the Gorequeen's shadow crosses a battlefield, the killing redoubles. Khorne's warriors believe she chooses the worthiest of the fallen and bears them to the Brass Citadel, and so they hurl themselves at impossible odds beneath her gaze, roaring her name as a prayer. But Valkia judges in both directions. The coward who flinches under her regard receives her personal attention, and Slaupnir's point, long before the enemy can oblige — for the Gorequeen's first duty is to remind the Blood God's children that in Khorne's eyes there is only one unforgivable sin, and it is retreat.
