The Legion Rapier Weapons Battery epitomised the patient, disciplined firepower that defined the Imperial Fists' way of war. Each Rapier was a compact tracked carriage crewed by legionaries and mounting a heavy weapon, a laser destroyer to gut enemy armour, a quad launcher to blanket approaching infantry, or a graviton cannon to pin and crush, and the VII deployed them in carefully sited batteries that turned any ground into a killing field. Rogal Dorn's warriors excelled at wringing every advantage from a prepared position, and the Rapier let them do so with the calm precision of engineers laying interlocking arcs of fire. Dug in behind a fortress wall or ranged across a breach the enemy must cross, the batteries held their fire with iron discipline until the moment it would tell most, then loosed a storm of destruction that no assault could weather intact. In defence, few weapons better served a Legion that had made the unbreakable line its highest art.
