The Praetorian

Rogal Dorn

The Horus Heresy

Primarch of the Imperial Fists and the Great Crusade's foremost master of siegecraft, Rogal Dorn's fortifications held the Imperial Palace against the Warmaster's final assault.

Found on a world shaped by his own formidable will long before the Emperor ever arrived to claim him, Rogal Dorn brought to the Great Crusade a genius that expressed itself not through flamboyant tactics but through an almost preternatural grasp of structure, defense, and the patient logic of siege warfare. The Emperor recognized in Dorn a kindred severity and eventually entrusted him with the fortification of the Imperial Palace itself, a responsibility Dorn treated with the same uncompromising seriousness he demanded from every legionary under his command.

When Horus's rebellion finally crashed against Terra, it was Dorn's decades of preparation that gave the Throneworld any chance at all of surviving the onslaught, the primarch directing a defense that bled his Legion nearly to extinction but never broke. The cost haunted him long after the guns fell silent, a grief compounded by the deaths of brothers and legionaries he felt he should somehow have spared, and Dorn emerged from the Heresy a harder, more isolated figure than the one who had entered it, forever defined by the wall he built and the war it was ultimately forced to endure.
