A Contemptor Dreadnought of the White Scars carried a fallen brother's will forward into wars he should never have lived to see, an ancient of the Legion entombed in an armoured sarcophagus and woken whenever the hunt demanded his strength. The Contemptor's advanced systems suited the Fifth perfectly, for unlike heavier patterns it could stride and even lunge, keeping pace with the Legion's forward rushes rather than trailing behind as a static gun.
Those interred within had often ridden with the brotherhoods in life, and something of that restlessness endured in the machine's aggressive gait. In the Heresy the Legion's Contemptors anchored its rare set-piece battles and lent iron weight to the fighting retreat toward Terra, walkers that hunted alongside the horsemen and shattered whatever the swift riders could not break alone.
