Keeper of the Guard

Qin Xa

The Horus Heresy

Master of the keshig and the Khan's oldest sworn guardian, Qin Xa is the silent blade that never leaves his primarch's shadow.

Qin Xa held the oldest and most trusted station in the Fifth Legion, Master of the keshig and commander of both the golden riders and the black-armoured Ebon Keshig who guarded the Khan on foot. He had ridden at Jaghatai's side since the earliest days of the Legion's making, and there was no warrior the primarch trusted more completely to stand between him and death.

A quiet, watchful figure, Qin Xa embodied the wordless discipline of the guard he led. In the field he was less a commander who barked orders than a presence that shaped the battle around his primarch, anticipating threats before they formed and answering them with a veteran's economy of violence. To the legionaries of the Fifth he was a living link to their earliest traditions, keeper of the honour-scars and the old songs of Chogoris.

When the Heresy drew the White Scars into open war, Qin Xa remained exactly where he had always been, at the Khan's shoulder, the immovable heart of the keshig, ready to spend his life without hesitation should the Warhawk's own blade ever falter.
