The Lion

Lion El'Jonson

The Horus Heresy

The deadliest swordsman and coldest strategist among the Emperor's sons, whose secrecy and distant loyalty defined the First Legion's lonely Heresy.

Found alone in the deep forests of Caliban, a child who had survived the death world's monsters through will alone, Lion El'Jonson grew into the deadliest swordsman and coldest strategist among all the Emperor's sons. He had already conquered the terrors of his homeworld and risen to lead its knightly orders before the Emperor descended from the stars to claim him, and something of that self-made solitude never left him; the Lion trusted his own judgement above all counsel and shared his reasoning with almost no one.

As primarch of the First Legion he proved a master of grand strategy, patient where others were impulsive and merciless where mercy served no purpose. When the Heresy erupted, his loyalty to the Emperor held firm, yet fate and his own secrecy conspired to keep him at the galaxy's edge, locked in the grinding Thramas Crusade against Konrad Curze's Night Lords. Distance bred rumour, and even loyal brothers wondered whether the Lion schemed for himself. He did not, but the seeds of betrayal had already been sown behind him on Caliban, where the mentor he loved most had begun to turn, and the shadow of that coming sorrow would follow the Lion for the rest of his days.
