M41, the 41st Millennium

The Battle of Kronus

A contested world became a crucible where six warring powers fought a sprawling campaign for dominion over its blasted continents.

Kronus was a world that belonged to no one and was coveted by all, and so the Battle of Kronus became a sprawling war of every faction against every other, a campaign fought continent by continent across a planet that changed masters with the seasons. Six powers contested its soil, and the fighting sprawled from jungle to desert to the ruins of forgotten cities in a bewildering churn of shifting fronts.

The Space Marines and the Astra Militarum fought for the Imperium's claim, but they were only one banner among many. The Tau Empire pressed its expansion with disciplined firepower and honeyed promises, Orks rampaged across the wastes seeking the biggest fight, Necrons rose from buried tombs, and the Aeldari wove their inscrutable schemes through the chaos. No two enemies could agree, and so the war became a many-sided slaughter.

In the end it was the Imperium that ground out dominion, world-worn and bloodied, having outlasted or crushed each rival in turn across a campaign of exhausting length. Kronus was conquered, but it was a conquest measured in ruin, its contested continents littered with the debris of six defeated ambitions. The world was won; whether it was worth the winning, only the graves that covered it could say.
