Ungor Raiders are the skirmishers and scouts of the brayherd, drawn from the ungors, the runtish, small-horned beastmen who occupy the bottom of the herd's cruel hierarchy and are reminded of it constantly by their larger kin. Denied a place in the front rank, they make a virtue of the margins. Armed with short bows and skinning knives, they range ahead of the herd through the tangled understorey, moving with a poacher's silence and a coward's wariness, loosing arrows from cover and melting back into the green before any answer can be made. They are not brave and do not pretend to be; their craft is ambush, misdirection, and the patient bleeding of an enemy who never sees them clearly. In the deep forest their knowledge of the hidden ways makes them deadly, herding lost travellers and marching columns alike toward the herdstone where the gors and bestigors wait. Where the herd hunts, the Ungor Raiders are the eyes in the leaves and the first arrow out of the dark.
