The Reiksguard are the elite bodyguard regiment sworn to the Emperor of the Empire of Man and to the province of Reikland from which they draw their finest recruits. Comprising both an armoured knightly order and a disciplined body of foot, the Reiksguard answer to the Reikland throne above all provincial loyalties, and their oaths bind them to defend the Emperor's person with their lives.
Quartered in a great fortress-barracks within Altdorf, the Reiksguard Knights ride to war as the tip of the Imperial spear, their lances shattering enemy lines while the Reiksguard Foot hold the centre with grim resolve. They are drawn from the sons of noble houses and hardened veterans alike, each swearing to forsake family name and fortune in service to the realm.
Throughout the long wars against Chaos, greenskins, and the undead, the Reiksguard have stood as a symbol of Imperial unity, a reminder that beneath the squabbling of the Elector Counts there endures a single sworn allegiance to the throne of Sigmar's heirs.
