Stormhosts

Stormhosts are the great armies into which the Stormcast Eternals are organised, each an enduring brotherhood with its own heraldry, traditions, and temperament. When Sigmar forges mortal souls into immortal warriors in Azyr, they are raised into a particular Stormhost, and its identity shapes them ever after: the golden Hammers of Sigmar embody the God-King's ideal, the grim Anvils of the Heldenhammer march to war like a funeral procession, and the vengeful Celestial Vindicators burn with a hunger to punish Chaos.

Each Stormhost is subdivided into chambers, specialised formations dedicated to different styles of war. Warrior chambers form the thunderous core of any assault, Vanguard chambers scout and strike ahead of the main advance, Extremis chambers ride to battle on celestial beasts, and Sacrosanct chambers wield storm-magic against the arcane threats of the realms.

The Stormhosts were created in successive waves of forging known as Strikings, and later hosts differ subtly from the first. Because their warriors return through the Reforging rather than dying outright, each host accumulates centuries of shared victories, grudges, and scars, giving these institutions the layered character of knightly orders that never truly lose their veterans, only watch them slowly change.
