The Grim

Volkmar the Grim

The iron-willed high priest of Sigmar, who rides his War Altar into the thickest fighting and preaches damnation to the foe with a warhammer for punctuation.

Volkmar the Grim is the Grand Theogonist of the Cult of Sigmar, the most powerful churchman in the Empire and the mortal voice of its warrior-god. He is a hard, humourless man forged by a lifetime of holy war, utterly without mercy for the enemies of Sigmar — mutant, greenskin, and undead alike — and scarcely warmer toward the living. Volkmar does not lead from the rear. He rides to battle atop the War Altar of Sigmar, a gilded shrine drawn by warhorses, and from its platform he hurls bolts of faith and sermons of pure hatred, striking down champions with the ancient warhammer of his office while his priests chant at his back. His conviction is a weapon in itself, steadying wavering regiments and driving broken men back into the fight. Volkmar has died and returned, been captured and escaped, and outlasted enemies who thought the Empire's faith could be broken by killing one old man. It cannot. He is the iron fist of the Church, and he does not know how to yield.
