The Emperor's Justice

Ludwig Schwarzhelm

Karl Franz's silent champion and standard-bearer, a peerless swordsman who carries the Emperor's honour into battle and never speaks a word he does not mean.

Ludwig Schwarzhelm is the Emperor's Champion, the grim and taciturn warrior chosen by Karl Franz himself to bear the Imperial Standard and enact his master's will upon the battlefield. A giant of a man in blackened armour, he is among the deadliest swordsmen in the Old World, wielding his great blade with a precision that has ended countless champions, monsters, and traitors. He speaks rarely and smiles never, for he carries the weight of the Emperor's justice and considers it no light thing. Where the Imperial Standard flies, the armies of the Empire fight with redoubled courage, for they know the Emperor's own honour stands among them and will not be seen to fall. Schwarzhelm's loyalty to Karl Franz is absolute, unshakeable, and wholly without ambition; he wants nothing for himself but to serve, and to die, if he must, with the standard still upright in his hand. To face him is to face the Empire's conscience, and few who do so live to regret it.
