The Outriders are what Pistoliers become when the recklessness burns away and cold professionalism sets in — veteran mounted marksmen who have traded youthful bravado for murderous efficiency. Where their younger cousins carry ordinary pistols, Outriders wield repeater handguns, intricate multi-barrelled contraptions from the workshops of Nuln that spit a hail of shot with every pass. Clad in heavier armour and drilled to a hard edge, they ride in tight, disciplined formations, circling the enemy's line and pouring in volley after mechanical volley without ever closing to grips. A well-handled unit of Outriders can strip the flank from a regiment, gun down enemy skirmishers, and shatter a charging warband before it arrives. They are expensive, temperamental, and utterly dependent on the fickle blackpowder they burn — but when the engineers' work holds true, few troops in the Old World can lay down such a withering weight of fire from the saddle.
