Outriders

The Outriders are what Pistoliers become when the recklessness burns away and cold professionalism sets in: veteran mounted marksmen who have traded youthful bravado for murderous efficiency. Where their younger cousins carry ordinary pistols, Outriders wield repeater handguns, intricate multi-barrelled contraptions from the workshops of Nuln that spit a hail of shot with every pass. Clad in heavier armour and drilled to a hard edge, they ride in tight, disciplined formations, circling the enemy's line and pouring in volley after mechanical volley without ever closing to grips. A well-handled unit of Outriders can strip the flank from a regiment, gun down enemy skirmishers, and shatter a charging warband before it arrives. They are expensive, temperamental, and utterly dependent on the fickle blackpowder they burn, but when the engineers' work holds true, few troops in the Old World can lay down such a withering weight of fire from the saddle.
