Throgg the Troll King

Throgg the Troll King is a horror that should not be able to think, and does. Trolls are a byword for stupidity, their regenerating flesh housing barely enough mind to feed and fight, but Throgg is a grotesque exception, a troll gifted with a cold, brooding, resentful intelligence that has made him lord of all his kind. Hideous even by the standard of his race, crowned in ice and wreathed in the reek of the northern wastes, he rules the Troll Country in the shadow of the Chaos Wastes and gathers to himself the monsters other warlords merely use, drawn to him by a will that dominates lesser beasts as surely as any spell.

Throgg despises the works of men and elves and dwarfs, the whole edifice of ordered civilisation, and dreams of a world remade in his own image: a frozen, mutated wilderness where beasts are kings and the cities lie buried under ice. He fights not for the fickle favour of the gods but for that singular vision, which makes him stranger and, in his own patient way, more dangerous than any Everchosen. The Powers indulge him, for a monster with a dream serves Chaos better than a hundred that merely rage.
