Mourngul

A gaunt and ravenous horror born of starvation and cannibal despair, feeding on the fear and flesh of the living.

The Mourngul is one of the most horrifying entities in the ranks of the Nighthaunt, a colossal, emaciated abomination said to be born from the collective agony of those who starved to death in some frozen wilderness, driven in their final hours to unspeakable acts to survive. What rises from such misery is a ravenous, skeletal horror of impossible hunger, forever seeking to devour the living and the warmth of their lives. Wraithlike and terrible, the Mourngul is wreathed in an aura of gnawing dread that saps the strength and courage of any who draw near, and its long claws and champing jaws tear apart warrior and war-beast with equal ease. Wounds seem barely to trouble it, for it knits itself back together by feeding, growing only more frenzied as the slaughter mounts. It is less a soldier than a natural disaster given shape, a manifestation of famine and despair loosed upon the battlefield. Where the Mourngul feeds, whole regiments are consumed, and only gnawed bones and lingering terror remain.
