Blade of the First Prince

Eternus

Be'lakor's foremost mortal champion — a warlord the Dark Gods discarded at his moment of triumph, caught by the First Prince, and reforged into the blade of daemonkind's oldest grudge.

Eternus spent a mortal lifetime doing everything the Path to Glory demands — the conquests, the sacrifices, the mounting tally of deeds offered upward — and at the summit, at the moment the gods should have reached down, they looked away. It is the commonest tragedy in the hordes, and it should have ended in a nameless death or something worse. But something older was watching. Be'lakor, the First Prince, the original daemon prince who understands better than any being alive what it is to be exalted and then discarded, reached down instead.

Now Eternus rides at the head of the Legion of the First Prince, Be'lakor's mortal army, armored in plate the color of a dead star and wrapped in shadows that move a half-second before he does. He is the daemon's herald, general, and proof of concept — living evidence held up before every champion the gods have snubbed that there is another patron, older than the pantheon's favorites, with a longer memory and more honest terms. What Eternus swore in the dark, only he and his master know. What is certain is that his loyalty is the one kind the Dark Gods can never purchase: gratitude.
