The Legion Storm Eagle Gunship gave the Alpha Legion the reach to convert months of patient infiltration into a single, surgical stroke. Armoured and heavily gunned, it could carry a squad of operatives across a contested sky and set them down precisely where an enemy's defences had been quietly hollowed out from within, a gate left unbarred by a bribed sentry, a bastion whose guns had been sabotaged the night before. The XX rarely used the gunship as a battering ram in the manner of prouder Legions; instead they timed its descent to the instant a foe's attention lay elsewhere, exploiting confusion the Legion itself had sown. Often it bore false transponder codes or the markings of a loyal formation, so that the first sign of treachery was the Storm Eagle already overhead. When a battle was won by knowing where and when to strike, the Alpha Legion's gunships were the talons that closed the trap.
