Barban Falk earned the exacting rank of Warsmith, the Iron Warriors' title reserved for those who had mastered the Legion's whole art of siege and command, a station granted only to officers who could orchestrate the reduction of a fortress from first barrage to final breach. To hold the rank was to be counted among the IV Legion's finest engineers of destruction, and Falk wore it with the cold competence that was the highest praise an Iron Warrior could aspire to.
As Warsmith he commanded with the methodical precision Perturabo demanded, treating each siege as a problem to be solved through patience, calculation, and the unflinching expenditure of whatever resources the solution required. When the Legion turned traitor, Falk turned with it, his loyalty to the IV Legion's iron brotherhood outweighing any oath to a distant Throne that had never valued his labours. Through the battles of the Heresy he brought his siege-mastery to bear against the Imperium's defenders, dismantling their fortifications with the same relentless artistry he had once turned upon its enemies, a Warsmith perfectly at ease in a war of walls and attrition.
